Fishing Naples Marco Island Dec. 9, 2014

Fishing has been great the past week with blue skies and clear calm waters off the beaches of SW Florida. The bonita showed up this week with the beautiful warm calm weather. Bonita are little tunas that scream drag off the reel and are pound for pound the best fighting fish we have. These elusive fighters only show up in the fall and then, are intermittent. They can be tough to catch but the challenge is fun and rewarding.

Had a good day with David Nordahl and his two grand kids this past week. We caught a few bonita off the beaches then headed to the backcountry for snook, reds, black drum and snapper.

Give me a call to talk about fishing. This time of year there is a great variety of species to catch.

I love my backcountry boat and it does exactly what I need. They stopped making the Silver King in the early 2000’s. To poling in inches of water when fly fishing the shallows to running around off the beaches chasing bonita, my boat does it all. It’s over twenty years old and was due for a refurbish so for the past six weeks I’ve been reconditioning the boat. New gas tank, floor, painted the hull, all new wiring, pumps etc etc.

Let’s go fishing!

Pics below, the finished boat and some pics of the boat in process and a pic of the side of the boat in a refection.
